Exciting new venture close

Trainers Tony & Calvin McEvoy are extremely excited about the next step in the development of their already successful training partnership, a new stable complex at Ballarat in Victoria.

Tony McEvoy has always lived by the words of his old boss Colin Hayes “the future belongs to those who plan for it.”

They are words passed down to son Calvin who believes the building of McEvoy Mitchell Racing needed a stronger presence in Victoria.

“It is an exciting new venture into Ballarat,” Tony said.

“It is coming to fruition quite quickly, and we expect a handover about mid-January.

“Our business has been going really well.

“We have the beautiful Kildalton Park in South Australia. We’ve also had Flemington which we really loved, but we wanted more.

“Since he has joined the ticket, Calvin was very pro and has wanted to train in Victoria more and more.

“I looked at all the training centres in Victoria and felt Ballarat was the place to go.

“It has got magnificent tracks and a very vibrant community with a young, aggressive and progressive group of trainers.

“I think for Calvin, who will be based in Ballarat, it is a great platform and he’ll fit in there perfectly.”

Calvin said he wanted to thank the owners for embracing him into the partnership.

“I think Ballarat is the perfect place to train,” Calvin said.

“We’re only just over an hour from the city but we are in a country environment which we have tried to emulate like we have in South Australia.”

The new Ballarat complex had 65 indoor stables and 35 outdoor day yards.

There are two huge 20-hourse undercover walkers with a polytrack surface.

A swimming pool is another feature as is the uphill training track.

Tony McEvoy said an incredible young group would be working at Ballarat to take the business to another level and he would be supporting them 100 percent.
