McEvoy Mitchell Racing was formed in 2011, with the father and son team combining their skills and experience in 2019.

The father-son tandem Tony and Calvin McEvoy, epitomise unwavering commitment to horse racing. From the crack of dawn training sessions to country and metropolitan racing nationwide, their energy and dedication knows no bounds. Leading the “Buying Bench, they make astute purchases at Yearling Sales, complemented by meticulous management of sales and continual owner communication on horse progress. Their expertise shines through in staffing and horse management, awards submissions, fostering strong owner relations, showcased through regular media appearances and event presentations. Their holistic approach ensures the welfare of horses even after their racing careers

Calvin McEvoy .

Calvin has spent many years at the coalface of the industry, working hands on with racehorses in Australia as well as completing an educational stint in a training yard in Newmarket, the historic home of horseracing in the UK. Calvin quickly took up responsibility upon return, overseeing the development of our purpose-built training centre at Ballarat. His goal is to make the benefit of having horses trained at the central and purpose-built facility at Ballarat go even further for our owners. Calvin aims to build the average in earnings per start.

Tony McEvoy .

As an apprentice jockey Tony rode more than 100 winners over a short period of time before his weight got away from him. Coming from a riding background has really helped Tony hone his skills as a trainer and continues to attribute to his ability to find quality horses. Tony has produced some outstanding champions throughout his career, including Sunlight – Coolmore, Newmarket and William Reid winner (Sunlight sold for a record $4.2 Million as a broodmare); Fields of Omagh – Dual Cox Plate winner; Hey Doc - Three times Group 1 winner; Xtravagant Star – Inglis Millennium; Despatch – Group 1 Goodwood.
