Lynch Mob easily
A return to Adelaide proved the right decision with Lynch Mob scoring an easy win at Morphettville on Wednesday, January 23.
Trainer Tony McEvoy felt the five-year-old was racing well but just not handling the pressure of racing in Victoria so felt a trip back to Angaston could help a return to the winning list.
Lynch Mob ($2.50 fav) responded with an impressive 2-1/4 length win in the Hit107 Benchmark 60 Handicap (1600m) beating Groove With Me ($7) with Exalted Lauretta ($5), 1-3/4 lengths away third.
Assistant trainer Calvin McEvoy praised the ride of apprentice Chris Caserta.
“Dad has been trying to teach Chris to be a bit more patient and today he rode Lynch Mob perfectly,” McEvoy said.
“The gelding settled at the tail of the field and no doubt the temptation would have been to come wide, but Chris opted to wait, and a split appeared, and he dashed through.
“Chris is working hard, riding well, and today showed he is also listening.”
McEvoy said Lynch Mob had been going quite well in Victoria and had finished close up fourths at his previous two runs.
“Dad decided a drop back in class back in Adelaide would be beneficial and he was proved correct.
“Lynch Mob won easily and can win again on that run.
“While he ran through the line strongly, I’m not sure he would better over a touch more ground, 1600 metres looks a perfect trip for him.”
The victory was Lynch Mob’s third from 20 starts and he also has run eight placings.
