Redzoust blitzes his rivals

Lightly raced three-year-old Redzoust gave his rivals a galloping lesson on the Ballarat Synthetic on Friday, September 16.

Trained by Tony & Calvin McEvoy and ridden by Dean Holland, Redzoust ($7) dashed away in the home straight to win the Sam Miranda Three-Year-Old Maiden (1100m).

He scored by 3-1/4 lengths from Veloce Carro ($2.60 fav) with Astelena ($12), 1-3/4 lengths away third.

Holland had Redzoust away quickly from his outside gate and was able to sit second outside the leader in the race to the home turn.

Once in the straight he asked the colt to lengthen, and Redzoust sprinted away to win easily.

By champion sire Zoustar, Redzoust debuted with an unplaced run at Cranbourne in the March but was put out for a break straight away.

He resumed at Geelong on August 12 with a handy fifth but showed the benefit of that experience at Ballarat.

Trainer Tony McEvoy said Redzoust was definitely a Saturday quality galloper.

“He jarred up on debut and was still immature,” McEvoy said.

“When he resumed at Geelong it was on a soft track and his ‘wheels were spinning.’

“We freshened him up while waiting for the right conditions, and today, on firmer ground, he showed his true ability.

“It was great to have a winner for a new owner to our stable, Cliff Little.

“Cliff has been very patient as we have taken our time to have Redzoust show us on the track what he has been showing us at home. We thank Cliff and trust it is the start of a great, and successful, association

“With that win, Calvin and I will look to take Redzoust to town for a suitable race.”
