Two for Sandown Guineas
Top trainer Tony McEvoy will launch a two-pronged attack on Saturday’s Sandown Guineas (Gr 2, 1600m) as Secret Blaze (Sizzling) and Scottish Rogue (Rothesay) go in search of their first wins this preparation.
Scottish Rogue finished second in the Hilton Hotels Stakes (registered as VRC Springtime Stakes) (Listed, 1400m) at Flemington on Saturday, while Secret Blaze was an unlucky third to Ranier (Lonhro) in the Carbine Club Stakes (Gr 3, 1600m) a week earlier.
“I don’t think there’s anything there that’s standing out as something to be afraid of,” McEvoy said.
“I think my two boys are well placed in it and should be there, deserve to be there and should be competitive.”
Kerrin McEvoy, who rode Scottish Rogue last week, takes the ride again, with Luke Currie to partner Secret Blaze.
