Race Against Time impressive
A bold front running ride by apprentice Madison Lloyd on Race Against Time returned a winning dividend at Seymour on Friday, September 1.
The victory brought up a double for trainers Tony & Calvin McEvoy who had scored earlier with One Out.
Lloyd made her intentions clear in the Choices Flooring Handicap (1600m), sending the five-year-old to the front after jumping well.
She rated the gelding perfectly and made a winning move when she asked Race Against Time to extend with 300 metres to travel.
He was able to grab a break on his rivals and Race Against Time ($16) lasted by a neck from Under The Rock ($9) with Little Mermaid ($8.50), 1-3/4 lengths away third.
Trainer Tony McEvoy said it was a very good ride by Lloyd on Race Against Time.
“Madison is riding really well,” McEvoy said.
“She rated him perfectly and went for home at exactly the right time.
“Race Against Time will take great benefit from the win.
“He was still a bit full as it was only his second run back from a break.
“It was really testing ground today, so it was a strong effort to win.
“I think 1600 – 1800 metre races are his sweet spot and I think he can win again soon.”
Winning jockey Madison Lloyd praised Race Against Time.
“He was beautiful and clean away,” Lloyd said.
“I was able to get the lead pretty easily, and once he got there, I was able to slacken it off and they sat off me.
“I had it pretty easy out in front.
“At the 600 (metres) I gave him a bit of a squeeze and he started stretching out.
“I was one off the rail and he was dipping and diving a bit but once I got him to hug it really tight, he let down really well and was strong to the line.”
