Nabbed nabs debut win

Two-year-old filly Nabbed made a winning debut on the Ballarat Synthetic track on Sunday, June 20.

The daughter of Written Tycoon, trained by Tony & Calvin McEvoy, made effective use of gate one to lead throughout in the Bartlett Blinds Maiden (1100m).

Backed from $3 into $2.60 favourite, Nabbed was ridden by Linda Meech who rated the filly beautifully.

Nabbed won by a neck from Side Bet ($3.10) with Testardo ($8.50), 2-1/2 lengths away third.

Trainer Tony McEvoy said the winner would now go for a break.

“She has done an excellent job in her first campaign,” McEvoy said.

“We’ll turn her out and bring her back for suitable races late in the spring.

“She trialled nicely for Linda, and I was encouraged that Linda wanted to come and ride her today – it was her only ride at the meeting.

“Both Nabbed and the runner-up were only two-year-olds taking on the older horses and beat them easily.”
