Injury setback

The racing future of the highly regarded Royal Symphony (Domesday) is in doubt.

Royal Symphony hasn’t been seen since finishing fourth behind Winx (Street Cry) in last year’s Cox Plate (Gr 1, 2040m).

The four-year-old entire, a winner of four of his seven starts, has re-injured a suspensory, a similar injury that kept the colt out of the autumn.

Trainer Tony McEvoy confirmed Royal Symphony would be sent to the paddock for 12 months.

He told Racing.com: “It’s very disappointing for us all.

“He had been back in work and looking good. Last week he had five days working under saddle cantering at Angaston but when he was inspected on the weekend he looked a bit off and we had him tested by the vets and found that the hole had reappeared in his suspensory.”
