Two-year-old filly Audio Pop Cam gave her older rivals a galloping lesson on debut on the Pakenham Synthetic on Monday, July 28.

Backed from $2.50 into $2.05 favourite, Audio Pop Cam, ridden by Jamie Melham, sat second early before drawing clear for a 1-1/4 length from Undisputable ($8.50) with Melodia Perfecta ($3.20), 2-3/4 lengths away third in the Unox Casa Maiden (1100m).

Trained by Tony & Calvin McEvoy, the daughter of Hanseatic had trialled and jumped out well before lining up for her debut.

She began well from a wide gate and was caught wide before Melham allowed her to slide across and sit outside the leader.

In the home straight, Audio Pop Cam extended to win impressively.

Rayan Moore, Racing Manager for McEvoy Mitchell Racing, said Audio Pop Cam was a filly of good potential.

“That was exciting, especially for the Rosemont team, as she is a home bred by their stallion Hanseatic” Moore said.

“For her to win as a two-year-old, as impressive as that, is very exciting.

“She was well schooled and had multiple jump outs and came here today as an experienced young filly.

“She did a few things wrong late in the race, ducking in towards the rail.

“It was a very smooth ride by Jamie (Melham) getting outside lead from that wide draw and she was very dominant.

“Audio Pop Cam came to us very unfurnished, and we did not know a lot about her, just stepped up during her work at home and has impressed us immensely.”

Winning jockey Jamie Melham believes Audio Pop Cam had an excellent future.

“The Rosemont team are fantastic, and they have a very talented little filly here,” Melham said.

“She obviously has talent, but her attitude and temperament will take her a long way.

“She was perfect today at her first start and was beautiful.

“The filly was going to win by a good margin but was green, wanted to step in and got lost in front.

“That win will take her a long way, she will improve and has a lot of ability but just doesn’t know quite what to do just yet.
