Rich goal for Sisstainable

Sisstainable will attempt to emulate her stablemate Arabian Summer following a brilliant victory at Eagle Farm on Wednesday, May 7.

Last year, trainers Tony & Calvin McEvoy took Arabian Summer to Queensland and the filly took out the $1 million Magic Millions National 2YO Classic (1050m) at Doomben on May 25.

This year, Sisstainable, also trained by the McEvoys, will head to this year’s $1 million Magic Millions National 2YO Classic (1000m) at Aquis Park Gold Coast on Friday night, May 23.

The daughter of star stallion I Am Invincible earned her chance at the Gold Coast feature with her first win at Eagle Farm.

Ridden by Andrew Mallyon, Sisstainable ($2.80 fav) dashed away from her rivals in the Gallopers Sports Club QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden (1000m) scoring by two lengths from Smexy ($8.50) with Provoker ($4), a half-length away third.

From gate three, Mallyon had the filly handy before railing through in the home straight to win easily.

Trainer Tony McEvoy was not surprised by Sisstainable’s comprehensive victory.

“She is a lovely, sweet filly,” McEvoy said.

“She not a big filly but she is fast, and she thinks she is good.

“Sisstainable has been a little bit stiff at home, she has run really well in a couple of stakes races and was quite unlucky at her last start in Adelaide.

“This was a lovely race for her, and she will now go to the $1 million race we were lucky enough to win last year with Arabian Summer.

“She is from a speed family Sunlight, Sisstar, her mother, which I bought as a yearling, and we will keep her in her zone at the moment.

Sisstainable is very sassy – small fillies with big attitudes, I like them.”

Winning jockey Andrew Mallyon was impressed with Sisstainable.

“She gave me a really good ride,” Mallyon said.

“I had been through her tapes and saw she liked to get her head in the air.

“I wanted to stay off her mouth as much as I could, so I rode with an extra-long rein.

“She found a really nice rhythm and travelled really nicely all the way into the straight.

“I think she was looking for some competition over the final stages.

“I think we will be pleasantly surprised how much she improves from this outing.

“She was just perfect.”
