Organics sprints strongly

Trainers Tony & Calvin McEvoy had a winning double at Sportsbet Wangaratta on Sunday, February 8 when Organics proved much too good for her rivals in the Winsec Savings & Loans Handicap (1400m).

The trainers scored earlier in the day with Silvasista and Organics won comfortably to give them a double.

Organics ($4.40 fav) was given a good run by jockey Harry Coffey before lengthening in the home straight to score by two lengths from Hustle ($6.50) with Seattle Hope ($5), a short head away third.

A benchmark 62 race for fillies and mares, the three-year-old filly has now won her past two starts around the spacious Wangaratta circuit.

She drew gate eight in a field of 11 and Coffey was good enough to angle her into a position one off the fence midfield early in the race.

He allowed Organics to stride up behind the leaders getting to the home turn before angling her wide and she sprinted well to win easily.

Rayan Moore, Racing Manager for McEvoy Mitchell Racing, said Organics was continuing to improve.

“It was a bit of tricky gate where she was drawn,” Moore said.

“There didn’t look a lot of speed on paper and Harry (Coffey) was able to slot in, one off the fence.

“She travelled up beautifully on the turn and you could just sense he had a lapful of horse under him.

“Organics is a lovely filly and starting to put a good record together since joining us.

“A daughter of Street Boss out of an Exceed mare, it is the cross you really want and it is just fantastic getting another win for Godolphin, they are a big supporter of our stable, and since we have teamed up we have thoroughly enjoyed it.

“I think she is a filly that can go on with it now.

“When she ran first up at Cranbourne it was a bit sharp for her but her two wins since, here at Wangaratta have been very strong.”

Winning jockey Harry Coffey said Organics had an excellent turn of foot.

“She was very good today,” Coffey said.

“She is putting a nice little record now.

“I am really happy with the way she is relaxing and breathing and that is allowing her to run out her races really strongly.

“She loves getting a nice cart into it and producing late and showing a turn of foot.

“Obviously, we will go up in grade now and we will need to see it again, but she has a real good turn of foot when things go her way.

“We haven’t seen the bottom of her in either of her last two wins, she was getting stronger through the line.

“Things are going well.”
