Miss Siska superb
Quality mare Miss Siska may return to South Australia following her excellent win at Caulfield on Saturday, August 18.
Beautifully ridden by Luke Currie, Miss Siska ($4.80) ran out a three-quarter length winner of the Beveridge Williams Handicap (1700m) beating Naantali ($2.80 fav) with Lopartega ($41), 1-1/4 lengths away third.
Trainer Tony McEvoy said he would talk with part-owner Katie Davenport about returning the five-year-old mare to his Angaston stables.
“I would like to get some black type for the mare,” McEvoy said.
“I believe the $100,000 Heiniger Balaklava Cup (1600m), a Listed race, on Wednesday, September 12 would be an ideal race, but we’ll talk it over before making a firm decision.
“It was a really good effort today and a very deserving win for the mare.
“She has just kept improving since coming into my stable and today was her fifth win from just 11 starts.
“It was a great ride by Luke – he had her in a perfect spot in running and she proved too good.”
Currie said the race had worked out well.
“I was able to get a great run sitting just off the pace but in the running line with cover,” Currie said.
“She came into the race nicely and ran through the line well.”
Miss Siska is a half-sister to the former champion sprinter Hay List, by the outstanding racehorse and sire So You Think.
