Just Rolling wins again
Trainer Tony McEvoy’s three-year-old Just Rolling indicated he was a horse on the rise with an impressive win at Morphettville Parks on Saturday, August 11.
After settling last, and hard ridden, in the field of four, Just Rolling lengthened over the final 100 metres to score in the Irish Race Day 1/9 @ Morphettville Handicap (1300m).
Leading jockey Jamie Kah worked hard throughout the race to land the colt, as $3.70 chance, a three-quarter length winner from Binding Force ($2.60) with Carlaluisa ($4.40), a similar margin away third.
Assistant trainer Calvin McEvoy said Just Rolling was a talented colt.
“He is a bit of thinker,” McEvoy said, “but he has the ability.
“Horses normally travel beautifully for Jamie, but he was the exception to the rule.
“Jamie had to ride him hard early just to keep up, had a slight break near the home turn, then had to get to work again in the home straight.
“Just Rolling took a while to warm up but he let down over the final stages to score.”
The son of top stallion Sebring made it two wins from two starts, having scored on debut at Gawler on July 29.
McEvoy said it had been a great performance.
“There is a bit of upside with this horse. He did it all himself today.”
