Breeze blows home in style
Debut two-year-old Everylittle Breeze came with a strong run to grab a last-stride victory at Bendigo on Sunday, May 15.
Trained by Tony & Calvin McEvoy, Everylittle Breeze was ridden by Dean Holland in the Agnes Banks Equine Clinic Maiden (1100m), run on a heavy eight track.
The daughter of the stallion Gold Standard settled just off the pace before being asked to lengthen in the home straight.
Everylittle Breeze ($5.50) responded to Holland’s urgings and ran through the line strongly to grab Jenny Jerome ($6.50) to score a short half head win. Everything Nice ($6.50) was two-and-a-half lengths away third.
The winner is owned by Spendthrift Australia Pty Ltd which was sold last week to prominent thoroughbred identity David Moodie and his business partner Ash Hardwick.
Trainer Tony McEvoy said Everylittle Breeze raced in the colours of David Moodie.
“Spendthrift gave us the filly to train, and we have always liked her,” McEvoy said.
“We thought she would lead as she always jumped to the front in her trials.
“When she didn’t step quickly it was all new to her racing back in a field.
“I thought she let down really well and I’m sure she can be a Saturday class filly.”
